Separate the handle symptom from the key symptom
Tell us whether the handle lifts, drops loosely or stops before reaching its usual position. Then describe whether the key enters and turns. If you already noticed that the lock works when the door is open but not when closed, include that observation; do not force or repeatedly test a failing door.
A cylinder change is not automatically the answer to a multipoint or alignment problem. Describe any rubbing against the frame, recent stiffness or change after the door was slammed.
Useful details without dismantling the door
A photo of the handle, keyhole and visible door-edge markings can help identify the system, but only take an edge photo if the door is already safely open. Do not remove the lock strip or loosen parts for a quote.
Tell us about the door material and any manufacturer's name you can see. It helps us bring the right parts.
If the door will not secure
Say clearly if the home cannot currently be secured and give your urgency. Avoid leaving a faulty exterior door open while waiting for a reply. Call us — we're open 7 days, with late callouts until midnight.
Before agreeing work, ask whether adjustment, a cylinder, handles or mechanism parts are proposed. We confirm the price before we set off.
Your questions
Do I need a whole new mechanism?
Often not — many faults can be fixed with adjustment or a replacement part. Describe the symptoms and we'll advise.
Do you work on every uPVC system?
We work on most common uPVC multipoint systems. Send a photo of the handle and lock and we'll confirm.
