Describe what happens, not just the suspected fault
Tell us whether the key enters fully, turns, gets stuck or has been damaged. Say whether the steering lock is engaged and whether a second key behaves differently. If the engine turns over but does not start, that is useful to distinguish from a key that will not rotate at all.
Do not force a key or keep using one that is visibly bent or damaged. If part of it has broken off, mention this before arranging a visit and retain any remaining pieces.
Getting to the bottom of the problem
A mechanical lock, worn key, immobiliser issue and unrelated starting fault can produce different symptoms. We will discuss your registration or make, model and year before confirming whether the requested work falls within our service.
We'll explain what we find and what we recommend, and point you in the right direction if another specialist is needed.
Information for a mobile enquiry
Send the postcode and where the vehicle is parked, plus whether it can be accessed and moved. Include any warning message and whether the problem started suddenly or has become progressively worse. Photos of a damaged key can be sent in the WhatsApp conversation.
We'll confirm the price before we set off. If your only issue is a missing key, our all-keys-lost page is the more relevant starting point.
Your questions
Can you repair my ignition?
Please describe the fault and vehicle first. Ignition problems are part of our service — tell us the symptoms and we'll advise on the next step.
My key turns but the engine will not start. Is it the ignition?
Not necessarily. Tell us about warning messages and whether another key works. The cause cannot be established from that symptom alone.
