Tell us whether the vehicle is locked
An all-keys-lost enquiry may involve gaining access, cutting a replacement and programming it to the vehicle. Say whether the doors are locked, whether a blade or broken key remains and whether a spare exists elsewhere. These details help define the job before a visit is arranged.
If the key is inside the vehicle rather than missing, a lockout enquiry may be the better starting point. If the key was stolen, say so when you contact us and ask what can be done about missing keys for your particular vehicle. We'll talk you through the options for your vehicle.
Prepare the location and vehicle information
Send the registration or make, model and year, postcode and where the vehicle is parked. Mention a locked garage, underground car park, parking time limit or restricted access. A postcode alone may not identify the vehicle's entrance or parking bay.
Before work is agreed, ask what identification or vehicle documents will be needed. If documents are locked inside, explain that at the enquiry stage. We'll let you know exactly what to have ready.
Replacement options and costs
The correct replacement depends on the vehicle's security system and key type. Send your reg and postcode and we'll confirm a price covering access, cutting and programming before we set off.
After the replacement is sorted, consider arranging a second working key. Keep it somewhere separate from the main key so a single loss does not leave you in the same situation again.
Your questions
Can you replace a key without the original?
Lost key replacement is an existing Grand Keys Auto service for many vehicles. We need the registration or make, model and year to confirm suitability and quote.
Do I need to tow the vehicle first?
Usually not — we come to you. Send the vehicle's location and reg first so we can confirm the job and price.
